: I can see this, but from another stand point I can see, that these two
: timelines are going to eventually blend and are both necessary.
: Roosterteeth is starting another RvB show specifically for Waypoint that
: will probably be comedy alone.

I know the two timelines are necessary, I just wish the Blood Gulch scenes helped the story a bit more. At the moment it's just the same joke repeated for 2 and a half minutes (in this episode's case, "Oh Simmons, you so silly, you don't understand Lopez")

The table read of the Waypoint series didn't inspire confidence in me either but I'm hoping that was just down to the difficulty of reading a script you've never seen in front of a live audience. But it did seem to me to be a bunch of "Sarge hates Grif and Caboose is stupid" jokes.

But I'm just nitpicking really. I love RvB veeery much.

: That being said, it is really difficult for some to recapture or continue on
: work that has worked in the past, but for some it isn't. I feel like RvB
: peaked with Season 3 and then never quite lived up to that, but I never
: felt like it wasn't enjoyable. This new drama stuff is awesome, and
: hopefully they can spurn some new stuff off of that. Really liking this
: season so far.

I feel like RvB's comedy peaked with Season 3 but the series overall peaked with Reconstruction. It was hilarious and still somehow managed to make the drama work. What I liked about Reconstruction was, like I've already said, the comedy worked with the plot, rather than just alongside it, if that makes sense. The characters also seemed less like their stereotypes -- even Sarge had moments of genuineness. They missed a huge opportunity in Revelation -- Grif had fallen off the cliff and Sarge said "uh oh" and rushed forward. I was like "YES, thank you Rooster Teeth, you're actually gonna put some depth into these characters". But then they turned what could have been touching moment of relief into the same old "ho hum, Sarge hates Grif" joke and stretched it out for 30 seconds.

Long story short -- RvB's comedy can't stay based on the character stereotypes because we've known those stereotypes for 10 years now. How much more mileage can they possibly get out of these jokes? Reconstruction was such a huge step away (and a huge step forward) from this with this but they went right back to it in Recreation and onwards.

/rant. And I repeat, I <3 RT and I <3 RvB.
