You don't want the driver of a vehicle to not be able to see : someone because they're obscured by the vehicle itself. In this case the : plasma turret is attached to the scarab, and the grunt is attached to the : plasma turret, so the grunt can see through the scarab. That makes sense. Its a general explanation for all vehicles: I was thinking in terms of an ad hoc rule just for the gunner to help him acquire and track targets from that specific location but the general case makes more sense. What does happen if I was traveling left to right and was passing behind rocks then reappearing, does the AI just lose me then reacquire me? Do they have a notion of persistence - do they expect me to reappear - do they anticipate my track? I was thinking that it would be easier to make the rocks transparent to them if they had already seen me and a timer hadn't expired. Its a cheat but would save work. They don't have to be that bright. OTOH I've taken a shot from the right side of a wall, walked to the left side to take a shot and it appears that the NPCs are focused on the right side where they last saw me. Of course this would still happen if the timer was fast and they were just pretending not to know where I was. I wonder if I can test this in Reach using sprint.
