In Response To: Re: AI Script (dmiller) One of my favorite encounters in Halo 3 is the first hallway battle, right before the barracks, on Crow's Nest. I've never had it play out the same way twice, and myriad tactics work for luring, evading and ambushing the Brutes and their Chieftain. Thing is, that same encounter wouldn't work in Reach, because the range and precision of the DMR would let players stand at one end of the hallway and shoot every Brute dead without leaving cover. But with the more limited range of the BR and its burst spread fire, it forces us to break cover and engage. My question is, how locked down was the combat sandbox - such as BR range and precision - when you design the missions? This encounter feels tuned very much to keep the Brutes at the far end just out of our range; was it designed with the range of the BR in mind? In general, how do you approach integrating the weapon set into the missions? Cheers.
