Because "leaving the original sounds" in this case is being compared to "replacing them with stylistically modified sounds." Refer to the point above. Also, though, and as I implied previously, many of us don't find all that much room for improvement. Halo 1's sound fidelity is quite good. It does have a few issues regarding balance between different types of sound on some newer TV speakers (speakers were different on the old CRT TV's around when the game was made), but those don't require a full remastering, and they're not actually that atrocious. : And you're absolutely right.
