Hah. It could be any number of things though. The ODST is completely faceless, so for all we know he could be grinning or snarling. As for the Elite, well, I don't think its all that easy for any of use to try and read facial expressions that alien. Hard to make out if there are even meant to be expressions. For both it could range from distrust or anger to mutual respect.
