: I disagree with you there, I think it's because Cortana's, shall we say, : distressed about the ship (or rather part of a ship) they're on blowing up : and/or being sucked into a mysterious... thing. Does he no longer respond to just "Chief"? Distressed about the ship? The thing was split in half by a collapsing slipspace portal after nearly being annihilated in an explosion that destroyed not only Installation 04a but the Ark and its foundry that created it, neither of which prompted the outpouring of panic we see here. Cortana's been the AI aboard three UNSC ships (PoA, IAC, and the FUD) none of which are intact anymore, and still, the Chief was the Chief and Commander Keyes was "ma'am". I could see, for example,
No, you can't, because there's no indication he knows it. He'd have called him "Chief" because that's what he always calls him. and it pays to
Yes, just as she did throughout the entirety of Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo 3-- where she called the protagonist "Chief" or "Master Chief" until the very last moment. That name was reserved for that one, single moment in all of Halo's cinematics for a very, very good reason. This trailer seeks to exploit that moment, and in my view, does so rather poorly.
