In Response To: Re: Why i wont be buying HCEA *article* (Gravemind) : At this rate, we might have to wait another 10 years because of Frankie's : apprehension towards splitting the player base of whatever current Halo : game there is. And now that we're getting another trilogy, Halo 6 might : not be out until 2018 so 2020 is the earliest we could see Halo 1's MP on : XBL. I guess 20 years after the original's release isn't too long to wait : for the chance that those of us whose only option for online gaming is XBL : might be able to play H1's MP online. *headdesk* Dude... it is probably never going to happen. Why is this so hard to understand? They are going to keep putting out new multiplayer experiences. They'll probably support two of them at a time, the newest one, and the one before that. Any more than that probably risks impacting the efficiency of matchmaking too much and/or not scoring high enough in a cost/benefit analysis. Those factors aren't likely to change. They're not going to let a release cycle go by without a new title with a marquee multiplayer mode, as long as the franchise is viable. If anything, they probably would want to increase the frequency of new releases by using multiple teams, the way it used to be with CoD. That leaves even less room in the online population to justify making a marquee release out of a niche remake as an online title. It seems to me that the next best change to revisit that decision would be if and when a major new Halo title tanks and falls out of one of the top spots on Xbox Live early on in its life cycle. Then they could seek to recapture the popularity of the franchise by putting Halo 1's multiplayer game on Xbox Live. : Unless 343i really does something to wow me at PAX, HCEA won't be something I
Fair enough. For me it's also proving a difficult value proposition to justify, but for different reasons; for me, campaign and coop are a much higher percentage of Halo 1 than "half"-- but even so, half a new release price is $30 now, and was less when Halo 1 came out.
