I don't think that's a supportable assertion if we take Frankie's statements at face value. We've been told this is the original code with a new graphical layer on top. If the game is the original code, then its native network capabilities have been removed or disabled. If it is not the original code, then Frankie's statement is not completely accurate, technically. Neither interpretation reconciles the addition of network cooperative play, which we were lead to believe was a serious technical hurdle that was not defeated until Halo 3's release, but is apparently present in this game, despite the absence of LAN multiplayer. There's no way to create this particular combination of circumstances entirely with technical problems. Some of these are intentional design choices.
