Okay, how about I directly oppose the statement that the feature "absolutely demands a singular, monolithic playerbase". It doesn't. Tell me how even splitting the Reach playerbase in half would negatively affect either game. It wouldn't because the sheer number of players means Reach won't be hurting. Put in Halo 3 and you can find a match in matchmaking guaranteed. Also, they aren't mutually exclusive. Zomg, maybe I play Reach one night, and Haloversary the next!

Cannot be achieved without ruining the game? Two words: Halo PC. Nobody claimed this wasn't Halo.
