In Response To: Re: Frankie's Back. With an update ;-) (ghost faction) : "It was a super hard decision, but ultimately the thing that tipped the : balance in Reach’s favor was this simple fact: If we added netcode to Halo : CE’s console gameplay, it would change it irrevocably. It would NOT be the : same game you remembered – it would be a compromised vision of it, with : the pros and cons that lag, latency and more can bring." : So I guess XBLive co-op is out then too, right? Every anti-multiplayer excuse
: Don't want to take from Reach's MP population? Well they can't be playing
I think the idea that it's a binary decision is faulty. We didnt say, "THIS CANNOT BE DONE" or "THIS ONE IS BETTER" we simply evaluated our options, the time we had, the technological problems, the relative compromises involved, and a million other factors, and came to a logical decision. If we were certain that everyone would be happy with it, one way or the other, it wouldn't have been a difficult decision. This is a very complex product, with a lot of moving parts, and we had to execute correctly on a complex plan. Would a LARGE subset of Halo fans like a CE MP remaster? Of course. That's not the issue. The issue is the hundreds of other pieces of a very big puzzle. Funnily enough, GhaleonEB of all people, fell on a strange side of the "purity" map by pointing out that he did in fact wat some updates to the Campaign mode - vehicle boarding and a couple of other "modern" features. Halo Anniversary as a package is a celebration of 10 years of Halo, and that includes a lot of different types of fans and tastes. And netcode for co-op is actually radically different than MP. They are not the same beast. This isn't supposed to sound argumentative, there's no argument really. It's just a description of the process and problem spaces something as complex as this creates.
