UNSC Theseus

The UNSC Theseus is officially a Lynx-Class Frigate. Despite this, there is quite a bit of argument about what her classification should be.
Following the Human-Covenant War, humanity returned to Reach. As a symbol, this was considered important. To prove that humanity could return and reclaim the worlds lost to the fighting. What they found was devastation.
Perhaps most impressive were the hulks of once-great ships and stations which had not yet fallen into gravity wells. With this in mind, HIGHCOM decided that it was of great value to not only the UNSC but humanity as well to create a symbol of these.
The remains of the UNSC Whistle of Dolphins was chosen as the main structure due to it being the most intact frigate. However, even then much of the existing substructure had to be replaced. In total, over 40 ships (not all military) and 20 stations were used in the reconstruction of one frigate. When parts could not be salvaged or were considered obsolete, they were constructed from materials gained from these noble reminders of the price that the war exacted on humanity.
The resulting frigate was christened the UNSC Theseus, after the Ship of Theseus, a thought paradox. Designed not for warfare (and under-armed for its official classification of frigate) but for the construction, and maintenance of military and civilian structures, as well as to provide relief for planets undergoing disaster, it is considered the honor of the UNSC fleet. To this end, it is crewed with both Naval and Marine personnel, occasionally carrying Army personnel as well.
It is especially equipped to handle ship and station construction and repair, the building of space elevators, various structures on planets and moons, and to coordinate relief efforts both in space and on the ground. It also carries abnormally large and well-equipped medical facilities for a ship its size.
Since its christening, it has been involved in numerous missions of peace. To date, it has not yet engaged in any act of warfare. It is the sincerest hope of the UNSC that it never does.
