(Leisandir) I don't mean this rudely, but your demand for a greater amount of completely explicit details suggests, IMO, that you misunderstand the way that the games' storytelling functions on a fundamental level. Most of the details that you've demanded, IMO, are either irrelevant to the narrative (such as the internal structure of the Covenant; such exposition would have absolutely no function towards what the narrative strives to do), or do exist in the game and extremely powerfully so, but are simply not conveyed entirely explicitly all the time (such as humanity's desperation). Basically, it's true that I don't get the same level of explicit detail out of it that I get from a few of the other games, but I have absolutely no problem with that because that's not what the game is trying to do. Most of its storytelling comes from the careful shaping of the narrative, the interesting subtext in existing dialogue, and the extremely effective juxtaposition and resonance of various aspects of sound, visual, and gameplay design, and how all these things wrap and work together. Large amounts of direct exposition would be clunky and bog it down, and would serve no purpose towards what it's trying to do. Again, I'm sorry if that comes off as rude; it's mostly just, as I see it, an explaination of how "YMMV" and expectations apply to Halo CE.
