I have to agree with Wu on this one. Although Halo and other FPS can be used as non-battlefield training simulators, they still are not intended as such. They are designed primarily as entertainment.
Yes there is a point or a lesson that can be learned in life and for the battlefield in what was said, but within the context of the game ultimately such comments are meaningless as you DO get resurrected.
From the context of a battlefield simulator, the ability to ‘respawn’ allows a player to attempt different strategies and learn risk/reward ratios within the context of a single battle.
