Yes, Bungie have been trying to recapture the magic of the first game in: Halo 3, ODST, and Reach itself. Those games are good games but they are not the original. Would 343i really want to try again? Why remake a classic in an old engine? (Engines evolve, the Reach engine has shipped so its old, it will be older by the time a remake gets made and will be older still two years after the remake has shipped.) Do we remake the remake ad infinitum? Anybody looking forward to invincible allies? To being run over by a marine who commandeers your Warthog whilst you snipe? Anyone looking forward to being driven out onto the ice to drift helplessly in front of a Wraith? Looking forward to hogs with nerfed LAAGs so you need to give the passenger a FRG in oder to have a chance at any level above Normal? Looking forward to Banshees that don't hover? But even if 'everything is kept the same': why bother? The original was a beautiful looking game, the ring was pristine and therefore more alien looking. You lose that when you have Reach style realism.
