The problem with a remake... | |

In Response To: Old halo games remake by 343 industries? (hotshot revan) Reading through all of the posts here, there is no set of "X, Y, Z, but no W" that is universal. Accordingly, any remake would be loathed and loved by different segments of the community. One factor somewhat overlooked is the nostalgia factor. We loved H:CE because it was new, it was awesome, and for a lot of folks, it was their first taste of Bungie. For me, I loved experiences. Sure, the gameplay was really enjoyable, but the LAN parties, teaching my then-toddler kids to play (and teabag), epic late-night in-person coop runs... Obviously H:CE's graphics are dated, Halo's gameplay itself has further evolved. We've seen the creation and deletion of dual wielding, seen the warthog go from invincible to fragile, seen Banshees go from unflyable to boardable, et al. The big thing is, some folks are saying "just update textures for the new engine", while others are decrying that saying "unless changes are made there's no point". So, *could* 343i's first project be Halo HD? It's possible. However, they definitely know it's a slippery slope. While I certainly have my own view about what should be done, what should be left alone, and what should be changed - it's just MY view. My own personal opinion. "You can't please everyone all of the time" is a very true adage. Of course, that will hold true in whatever direction 343i takes the franchise. As always, they have the pedigree - I'm interested in seeing what they do with it. Cheers,
