In Response To: Re: Old halo games remake by 343 industries? (RyanTheHeretic) : The way I see it, trying to inject lots of new stuff into an old game is a : terrible idea. It will only result in a mediocre compromise. All the : little things that made the original game good will have been overwritten : by the new things, but the new things will have been limited and stunted : by the limitations of what is expected of a remake of an old game. The new : content will not have the proper setting in which to flourish and grow and : be fully-developed. : That to me sounds like a terrible compromise. If you're going to do a remake,
Maybe, but by no means is it a certainty.
Granted some people didn't like the changes, absolute purists are inevitable but there is no reason a remake should spoil enjoyment of the originals. I think some of the Xbox Live HD remakes have demonstrated that. However I thought Twin Snakes was pretty darn good. The MGS2 features added into it greatly improved the gameplay and didn't affect the setting at all. It made the game a bit easier overall, being able to aim in first person for example but overall it successfully married the fantastic story line of the first MGS with the more streamlined and enjoyable gameplay of MGS2.
It was also nice in both games revising the script and some scenes slightly to better fit some details of the sequels, REmake especially benefited from that to make an overall far more coherent story. PSX MGS
Same scene, GCN Twin Snakes
