To comment on Jun's characterization, I can completely see where you might see him as being off here. I'm definitely taking a risky chance here, showing a weakness(?) in him, but I hope you'll see with later scenes in the comic why I did it, and how his hesitation connects with those Intel reports on Bungie.net that you cited. Those were actually an inspiration!
