In Response To: Re: Hawaiian Pig's Fantabulous Story Review *SP* (kapowaz) : Massive improvement, yes. Excellent job? I'm not so sure — to me it was still : inferior to the facial animation in Half-Life 2, which is now six years : old . I certainly wouldn't go using the modest improvement in facial : animation to support some argument about these cardboard cutout characters : having depth. You should go back and review, side-by-side the two animations. I think, while HL2's animation was certainly good at the time, you'll find that you're misremembering things. Characters who attempt to remain level-headed aren't going to be as animated as folks who are experiencing and displaying stronger emotions. I've seen plenty of examples of excellent facial animation in Reach and I don't believe that even thinking nostalgically that you can draw that comparison honestly. I recall Halo: CE being fantastic graphics for the time, but that doesn't mean I'll brazenly call some next-gen game inferior to those graphics simply because I'm partial to H:CE.
