In Response To: Re: Thoughts on Reach (4K words) (NeoN) : This basically sums up how I feel about the plot. For the most part it works : when considering the larger perspective of everything unfolding on Reach : during the invasion. It is supposed to be sheer chaos with a growing sense : of urgency and doom. Mission objectives would be constantly changing based : on up-to-date intel. Events may seem a bit disjointed at times but they : are struggling to keep up and stave off a well coordinated attack by the : Covenant. In the end it all proves futile, yet Noble Team's sacrifice was : not in vain. When you can rearrange levels into different orders, and still have the exact same story being told, THAT IS NOT GOOD STORYTELLING, regardless of what themes you're trying to represent. That's what happened in Reach, and it's terrible. It's even more terrible when you know that they have the capability to craft a good story, they just choose not to.
