In Response To: Re: Who owns the game engine? (Narcogen) Myth was a "100%" 3D engine, however... Since it rendered terrain via a grayscale displacement map, you never ended up with points the player could access underneath points (ie bridges that could be walked over AND through). Fetchball ran into a few phantom geometry errors on its goals because of that issue. 5 Champions bridges were 100% illusion. In fact, the screenshots on the box featuring the bridge were "doctored" to give the illusion of carnage above and beneath. So Myth was a fully 3D engine with limitations - it didn't handle multiple z-levels gracefully (read also: at all). For units, it used billboards - but billboards are geometry - even if just a "square". Just because that square always faces the camera, it doesn't make it any less a piece of geometry.
