I've actually come to like the mauler, but there isn't much point in having it in a single-wield-only game along with a shotgun other than being able to run out of ammo for one and keep right on playing like you were, and the lack of accuracy and range can be annoying at times. Actually the other point would be it being a Covie equivalent of a human weapon-- do you think we'll see Brutes with shotguns again like in Halo 2? With how it's been beefed up that would make them pretty formidable enemies, more so than in Halo 2, and it could help make up for the lack of Flood-- I like getting killed with the needler as much as the next guy but sometimes I just want some pistol rounds in my back.
