When I saw a grenade coming I'd pulse it just enough to avoid the damage, and if they tried for a melee later you could time it so they'd hit you, lost shields, immediately pop out, and murderize them.
I'm going to miss the beta version of armor lock, it was good in a lot of ways but I fear it will be pretty underpowered in the retail version.
