In Response To: Re: Whadya think about the controls? (Cody Miller) : I had no idea that it's such an engineering problem to allow fully : customizable controls! Those folks back in 1979 doing it on Apple II games : must have really been geniuses, no? And to think, they had to deal with a : hundred different keys while Bungie only has to deal with a dozen! : Hire them immediately and pay them big bucks! Yes, and those Apple II games sure had high expectation for Quality Control. I imagine Bungie has testers constantly playing the game with every control scheme trying to find another BXR. It's not as simple as just remapping the buttons to different commands. That would only take a couple lines of code. The difficulty comes in testing every possible permutation for possible exploits and glitches. Not to mention having to implement UI graphics for "Hold X to pick up weapon." "Hold A to pick up weapon." "Hold Down on the D-Pad to pick up weapon." It would take a lot of work to make every possible control scheme give players the same experience, and if they only did a half-quality job of it you know everyone would cry foul anyways.
