In Response To: Whadya think about the controls? (Addy) I'll definitely be using Recon. It's the control scheme I'd hoped they have, and I guess they knew a lot of people didn't want to change what they used in Halo 3 too dramatically. The thing about armor abilities in Reach is that they're not only replacing equipment, but also dual-wielding as well. LB was used both for grenade switching and left-handed reloading. I guess Bungie didn't want to go back to non-tactical dual-reloading like in Halo 2, so they dumped dual-wielding altogether. Halo was one of the only FPSes that allowed you to mix and match weapons like that, and it was a fun part of the gameplay. But I think that with Reach, Bungie wants to make it so that the "wrinkle" is always there. With dual-wielding and deployables, those only changed the gameplay when you found them. Deployables were gone as soon as you used them, and dual-wielding was usually gone with a weapon switch or a melee. Recharging armor abilities harkens all the way back to the recharging shield, and perhaps to the core design philosophy of Halo. That repetition of "30 seconds of fun" means both you go into your next engagement much the way you went into your last and, you don't always have to stop to aim down your sights or prime a grenade. Well, I got off on a bit of a tangent there. I hadn't even thought of half the things I just wrote until I wrote them. But now I feel a whole lot better about Reach than I did before. I think it's going to be the same old enjoyable Halo, perhaps to an even greater extent than it was before.
