Wow, yes, I think that that would be my answer as well. I actually experienced a genuine, penetrating sense of DREAD, mixed with the beginnings of hopelessness, the first time that I saw the Flood-infested Covenant Cruiser break out of slipspace and crash into New Mombasa. Into Earth. My first thought was: "There will be no recovering from this... We're doomed." I mean, it was instant recognition. It didn't take me a second to identify it. I immediately knew what that cloudiness meant, and what that green-brown color signified. Plus, the timing was PERFECT, so that also confirmed the "Murphy's Law" feeling that I had inside of me at the time. Thankfully, Rtas was on the case with his plasma bombardment. If he hadn't been... well, when you think about it, that almost makes up for what his kind did to ours. ...almost. Still doesn't ease my fears of there being a teeny tiny floodspore somewhere out in the Kuiper belt or something. The Flood seems to be all about contingency plans. >.> <.< *is scared* PS - This is worth a thread all its own, actually. "What would you do if you found out that The Flood arrived on Earth, here, today?" My answer? I would jump headfirst into lava as fast as my legs would carry me. (Can't get my recently deceased brain that way.) That is, unless I was Directed otherwise, of course.
