Maybe I'm totally missing something here but I DEFINITELY don't : remember anything of that scale ever happening. You're watching a combination of things - Cortana's interpretation of events she never actually witnessed, an amalgam of events that we the player weren't present to see (mop-up between when the Chief went to the Ark and the ceremony at the end of H3) and the purely symbolic (the parts where we see al the factions, one after the other, sliding on screen).
