In Response To: I have a question... (stan) : I just watched the new ViDoc, and I'm really curious to learn, where did : Bungie find all those new polygons that they now have to work with? I saw at one point one of the artists was using ZBrush, which is software for sculpting and painting meshes. The software is capable of handling over 10s of millions of polygons, which, in a 3D production world, is a shitload. Maya crashes on my workstation at only a few million. I figured that it was a case where someone said something and it got taken out of context (he meant using multi-million poly models which would then be reduced and have normal maps and shit be generated from ZBrush). At least I think that's what it was. I'd have to watch it again to be sure but if he implied that each CHARACTER has millions of polys, then he definitely meant within ZBrush. It would be highly, highly unnecessary to give any single piece of geometry that much detail, because the technology is such that the detail can be simulated with great accuracy using bump maps and normal maps. I'm not even sure a game engine could handle it. It'd be transforming millions of polys whenever the character moved. Cliffs:
