In Response To: Re: 343, would a Waypoint Collection be possible? (Louis Wu)

: Jon,

: Thanks so much for your response. Headhunters was brilliant, and something I
: have been longing for since Ghosts of Onyx. I loved the Commando Elites as
: well... Red freaking energy swords for the win ;-).

: As for Waypoint, the fact that it is so new and yet so enjoyable gives me
: unbridled optimism for its ongoing evolution. Thanks to you and everyone
: over at 343 for being so eager to entertain both the passion and the ideas
: and suggestions of your ridiculously rabid fanbase. Keep up the awesome
: work!

: Grim

Grim,

You're welcome, and thanks. The rabid nature of the Halo fanbase is a key ingredient in what makes it such a vibrant, engaging piece of fiction -- we wouldn't have it any other way.

: I wish Halo way point would not only help me keep track of my online career
: but maybe tie my physical collection of cool halo items I collect. If you
: have ever play mario smash bros you see that you have a little virtual
: collectors room where your items are that you collected during game. What
: if waypoint let you have have a virtual avatar or even just a list of
: stuff you have bought. People could compare there collections and so on
: online. Maybe every future product under the halo brand could come with an
: xbox live code that would ad a new item to your collection online. Books,
: games, memorabilia and toys could all be displayed in these virtual
: collector rooms.

mr. sci-fi,

Hmmmm... another interesting idea.

: Evolutions is far and away my favorite piece of published Halo material. You
: guys did an amazing job with it. :)

Louis,

Glad you liked it and thanks a lot! Everyone involved is incredibly excited about the community's overall response to the book. Each of the authors really brought something unique to the table, which added a nice freshness to each story, while all feeling firmly grounded in established Halo lore. On top of that, the franchise and licensing team at 343 worked very closely with Tor to make sure each of the pieces fit together in a way that allowed the individual stories to stand on their own while at the same time providing a broad spectrum overview of what the Halo universe has to offer when viewed as a whole.
