Just my own thoughts on the episode...

Seeing the other Spartans' faces was interesting. I recognized Kelly right away and thought one was Fred or William at first. I thought it odd that only the Chief wore green armor while the rest had a grayish tone on. My first letdown was the lack of Steve Downes for the Chief, but after reading Frankie's explanation you just have to live with it...and it isn't all that bad a replacement. I did like the prowler "decloaking" although it was a bit strange to see the "cloak" have the pattern of a bubble shield.

The booster frames the Spartans used reminded me literally of a "flying fortress" since those things seem to literally be weapons held together by engines instead of a heavily armed craft. I doubt there is much those things can't open! It was funny to first see our Spartan friends doing something they typically aren't all that comfortable with...not fighting with their feet on the ground.

I thought Solomon's "initiative" was a bit odd...especially after Kelly remarks they should wait for the Chief. The shields were down...but for a Spartan to go in solo seems a bit odd...more like something you'd see "Gray Team" do. Although, in the end he does pay for his enthusiasm.

Arthur's death, while a bit too quick to know anything about him except his name, was one that is understandable. As Frankie said, "It took two Covenant Battle Cruisers and a massive bomb to take out two Spartans. That's pretty damned tough." Spartans aren't exactly renowned as pilots and flying through the middle of a battlegroup with AAA flying everywhere you have to expect losses.

Seeing John, Fred and Kelly standing in that bubble shield was pretty awesome. Although finally getting to see Fred and Kelly in and of itself was a great treat. Not seeing John's face is understandable, but being able to see characters we've read about for so long was very rewarding.

Overall I liked it quite a bit. The style was nice. I liked seeing the Covenant cruisers brightly lit with windows and point-defenses flaring. The Spartans looked great. You really got a sense for their weight when you saw Solomon running down that corridor. He just looked and sounded like a walking tank. Seeing Kelly use the turret on the back of the booster frame just seemed classic "Spartan" to me. It was great.

I look forward to seeing the next installment.
