Claude, I am glad that I am not the only one who felt this way. Frankie's since set me straight (see "X-Wings make sounds in space, since they're in a movie" post) but the portrayal of the events did bug me. A question that had occurred to me only AFTER reading your post was: was the Brute's communication gear broken? If he HAD survived, why wasn't his first priority informing the planet's security detail that there were UNSC forces, and a Demon at that, on the planet, since the Brute knew that there was a prophet headed that way? He saw O'Brien's sniper rifle on his back when he went to wallop him with the pimp hammer. Brute's aren't Einsteins, but they'd be able to put two and two together: sniper team + incoming High-Value Target = uh-oh. I know his helmet got busted, and so that might've taken out whatever communications gear he was carrying on his person, but what about some other, more stationary way to communicate? Why didn't he make a b-line to some Covenant comm unit? Really, though, I can see the explanation for why he didn't try to inform his superiors: He's a Jiralhanae, and he had failed. His chances were probably better trying to kill them and THEN contact his superiors. That, and I can see a Jiralhanae being so unbelievably p'd off at losing that fight, that he went completely ape. lol. See what I did there? ;)
