In Response To: Brutes > Elites (Riceatron) I mainly want to say that my reasons for preferring Elites - or more specifically H1 Elites (crucial difference) - are nothing to do with any objection to 'canon' being altered or anything like that. I've always happily admitted that I'm really not much of a one for all that story business, and I've never read the books for example. I'm in mainly it for the thrill of the actual combat, and the simple fact there is that I find fighting H1 Elites far more enjoyable than any Brute fighting in the sequels. It's hard to make a completely fair comparison because these enemies exist in different games (for me the H1 game engine gave much more satisfactory results than what followed), and as part of that there were different weapon sets. If we're only talking H3 Elites compared with Brutes, there wouldn't be such a clear-cut distinction for me, which relates to stuff I was saying in that other thread just a few days ago. But if Elites were at least made more scary and animalistic, such as tantalizingly shown in the last few seconds of the Halo 2 E3 2003 trailer (a glorious vision tragically lost), I have little doubt I'd much prefer them over the space monkeys. Er, I mean Brutes. | |
