Brutes > Elites

I suspect a good bit of you are pretty butthurt over what happened to your precious Eweetz in Hawo Too. Ya know, those mean 'ol bwoots When a game is meant to be played on Heroic and not Normal or Easy, then having an Enemy who is practically a Bullet Sponge and uses Melee constantly is a great challenge for the player. And for story reasons, why couldn't we have Brutes? Or Drones for that matter. We HAVE an explanation for Drones. They were ENGINEERS Exactly like the Huragok, but for where Huragok was for the software and computers of the Covenant, the Yanme'e was used for Hardware, the building and constructing of ships and defenses. We never saw them in battle because they weren't a species USED FOR BATTLE. Brutes, I mean, look at them. They're BRUTES. They're Giant Wolf Monkeys You say they can't be as good as elites, that they act stereotypically evil, and are no fun to fight. Who are you kidding? Get over it. We haven't fought Elites since 2004 when Halo 2 came out, and ever since you've all been complaining about how everything new is shoehorned in. For the Covenant. I have not seen once someone ask why we suddenly have all these new weapons being made during the sequels, or why Bungie can't stay consistent with their portrayal of Humanity at all, from changing great designs of cities which look like they fit in the Halo universe, to stuff like what we have in New Mombasa, which is basically just every building we ALREADY have, pasted together, and slapped with fictional corporate logos. Or the design of Human armor. From awesome Aliens inspired armor, which Inspired the whole of the Halo universe, to craptastic armor in Halo 2, to Great but not as good as the giant hunks of brown steel in Halo CE. At least the enemy has stayed consistent and evil, hm? I love Brutes. And I'm sure most of you would too if you stop thinking Bungie wronged you in some way by introducing a new species. Brutes are more fun to fight than Elites. They really are. But they need to be Bullet Sponges as well as Shielded Enemies. How they are in 3 and ODST needs to go. An EMP + Headshot is too easy a way to kill an enemy. I want someone I have to run away from, like I do Hammerbrutes. As for Story reasons why I love them. Just look at them. Imagine how they lived. Compare them to Chimps, which are mighty vicious creatures known to cannibalize on fallen foes. Imagine a pack of Jiralhanae climbing into the tall trees of Doisac, wielding their hammers and knives and whatever brute designed weapons they have. Imagine a Chieftain of this particular clan yelling from the back in his native grunts and language to attack an unsuspecting clan. Think of how Native Americans attacked unsuspecting Colonial Pioneers during the early days of America, jumping from trees with their hatches and war cries. Imagine a large pack of these Brutes, jumping from high trees and landing on this unknowing community, killing all who oppose them, and stealing their females and children. Now, Imagine such a being being confronted with The Covenant, seeing more species, learning of these new gods which overtook their own. Imagine their role in this new place, this place of High Charity, and aboard Ships. Think of them in the same way one thinks of the Lekgolo. Bouncers. Where the Hunters are deployed as mobile turrets, the Brutes were deployed like hired barbarians. They could take more damage than the rest, and when they needed Hunters to stay back and fire their cannons, these Brutes would be in front, tearing down emplacements and clearing a path for the much more noble Elites, who would prefer not to do the 'dishonorable' work that the Brutes were more than capable of. Imagine the tensions. How the Elites, all high in their ego, look down on them as filthy animals, and how the Brutes look as them as arrogant and egotistic in their ways. The Brutes would be bottom tier compared to the Grunts in the eyes of the Sangheili, as the Grunts would be more useful in a group. Look at those who stayed with the Covenant. The Drones, who only stayed due to their Queen being in the Covenants care, many of the Hunters, who may not have had any opinion of the war, but enjoyed having their colonies taken care of, and the Jackals, who I suspect the Brutes were very close to, both being very vicious creatures looked down upon by the rest, even the Unggoy. I can see Brutes and Jackals hanging out, discussing how they like to tear into their enemies during a battle with their claws, and teeth. Think of their religion. Gods of War and Destruction. Kindly Gods for those who stay at Home. Gods wielding Hammers and Axes and Spike weapons. What would their stories be? Would they be told around a fire? Or to their growing young at night? How were they raised? Can we compare them to primates again? Those who care for young, and are gentle to their family, but vicious to enemies? Anyway The point I was trying to make is that Brutes are awesome.
