Aren't Spike Grenades basically Plasmas? | |

I've been thinking about the spike grenades lately, and to be honest, I don't want them to return in Reach. To me, they just seem like glorified plasma grenades. The big difference is that they stick to all surfaces, instead of just things that can die/go boom. Is that really worth the additional development time, coding, graphical effects and grenade inventory slot? Sure, they throw out spikes, but how many times has that been a game-changer for you? I've been lucky a few times and had someone run in front of the spikes, but other than that, I kinda feel that Bungie added these purely to say "hey look, a new grenade!". I'm sure many of you will say that you've got quite a few kills with these, but does anyone actually strongly disagree with the gist of my argument? Does anyone believe these are excellent additions to the Halo arsenal that should definitely be brought back in Reach? PS. if they were replaced with needle bombs (like a pink crystal that shatters on impact and throws out needles) then I'd find them much cooler and fiction-relevant. PPS. this topic could easily apply to the spiker too.
