Yeah, I thought about catapult-launching, but then how do you land? IRL, they have capture-mechanisms to recover such craft, but that's no fun to fly in X-Plane. :-P So that's why I went with the actual landing gear.

Now I've just gotta figure out how to get the landing speed down below 160kts! O_O
