Personally I liked their approach to Halo 3. Simple, but plenty of other stuff going on (if you actually look for it) to study. Also I liked the fact they gave it an open ended conclusion. I don't need to know what happens to the Chief after going into cryo. Will he wander forever? Will he land on that planet? Will a giant rock hit his ship and smash him to smithereens? Don't know and I like that.

I like Halo Wars to a point. Spartans with shields? No thanks. Flood? Totally loses their impact by being in the game? Tacked on Brutes? Meh. Elites looking like push overs (minus the Arbiter), now that was kinda sad. What's worse is it was allowed. Oh well. At least they gave an excuse for not being around, though I don't like how they made it so the missing 3 Spartans were on that ship. Kinda messes with numbers in a disappointing way. (I really hate too much retcon.)

I'm pretty sure they brought plenty to it story wise. They might have used some of his stuff, but people take other people's ideas all the time and run with them. After all it was a team that was suddenly no longer being used, then they said screw it and ran with ODST. And from what I've seen as well looks pretty darn awesome.
