In Response To: Re: Arguing with video game logic... (Hikaru-119) : MAC rounds are better spent on firing at Covenant ships. Nukes even more so. : It makes more sense to send in a Spartan plus escort to take the area. You : lose far less valuable assets that way. And waste a lot of time they didn't have. One-shot guaranteed kill from long range vs. having troops take several hours driving from Crow's Nest to Voi, fight through Covie troops and armor and possibly failing to accomplish their objective. Even if it was necessary for the frigates to save all their ammo, they could've spared a couple out of the 30 or so Longswords that participated in the assault (well, they did send one, but it failed because the idiot pilot basically flew right up to it without firing anything instead of, I don't know, flying well enough above the gun and then dropping a bomb on it). IMO, if saving fleet resources was the reason for sending ground troops, it was a big gamble considering how time was of the essence. Of course, their weapons were ultimately useless against the dreadnaught, so saving ammo didn't matter, but fortunately, the Forerunner structure was just a big Stargate and not the Ark activating the rings. Of course, what I'd like to know is what happened to the Covenant ship that Arbiter, Johson, & Miranda arrived to Earth in. It could've taken point in the assault and just glassed the factory complex. Either it was destroyed before the start of the game but never mentioned in-game, or it was just forgotten during the writing process.
