Counterpoint: Star Wars action figures. Star Wars underpants. Star Wars cerial. Star Wars cartoons. Star Wars lunchboxes. Star Wars posters and stickerbooks and spin-offs and etc and etc...

...all happened 30 years before people started accusing George Lucas of REALLY selling out. See also- Spaceballs: The Flamethrower. There's plenty of evidence that Lucas was always a stark raving loon who wanted to screw his stories at every turn (see: Various Star Wars original trilogy retcons like Leia wasn't originally Luke's sister the later Han Shot First and etc), and people around him have tried to keep him from doing so (most recently, Spelberg trying to keep aliens out of Crystal Skull as much as possible).

Considering the RTS that just came out was awesome, and ODST looks to be a more than worthy expansion to the main line, and Bungie's probably going to make Reach kick more ass than ever, it's entirely possible this series hasn't even actually reached its prime yet. I rarely side with the "you're all a bunch of grumpy fanyboys" group, but for once it's time to be on that side of the fence.
