In Response To: Calling it now (InnerRayg) But you're a little late. And I still think it oughta be called Lucasing, not jumping the shark. Jumping the Shark has a very specific television connotation, denoting the point at which a series, in a desperate attempt to remain relevant, goes to some absurd, gimicky length to draw in viewers. What we have here is no attempt to remain viable (Halo at this moment is no Happy Days season five). Instead, it's a marketing ploy intended to milk a cash cow in new ways. That's not to say the folks producing this don't think it's worthwhile or that they're not fully invested and dedicated to bringing the fans a new and exciting chapter of the Halo saga. I'm sure they are. But then again, we all know George Lucas thought Episodes 1-3 were good ideas, that he could direct and that Hayden Christensen could act, and we have to assume that he thought Clone Wars went some length towards completing his vision. So Lucasing is that nexus of stark capitalistic hankerings and sincere, but perhaps misguided, artistic impulses at which a very successful franchise becomes bloated beyond all good sense.
