In Response To: Will Halo even USE Natal? *NM* (Morpheus)

Is it me, or does Natal look like something that might only work for a select handful of games and therefore won't make any lasting impact? I honestly doubt any kind of motion control will fully supplant standard controller interfaces. Ever. Especially not something like Natal, which bears little resemblance to the motion control tech used by Nintendo and Sony. Even on the Wii, it's not really necessary even when it works well (honestly, its AAA titles would've played just fine if Nintendo went with a regular controller and no motion control). It's even less necessary with the PS3, which uses the same controller design as its predecessors.

Some things just work spectucularly well and don't really need major improvements, much less outright replacements. The traditional video game controller is such a thing. Aside from the addition of more buttons (necessary for more complex games) and analog sticks (necessary for most 3D games), things have remained fundamentally the same for the last 25 years, current-gen attempts at motion control notwithstanding. Extra buttons and analog sticks were arguably necessary, but motion control... not so much.
