In Response To: ODST is bittersweet, for me (Jordan117) : I'm sad mainly because that potent sense of realism is gone. Well, you don't even need to look as deep as you did. As soon as I saw the campaign video footage I felt the "realism" of the Halo universe vanish. I knew the gameplay balancing act between an ODST and a Spartan would be a tough nut to crack, but I thought Bungie could do it...I was wrong. The display of a lousy human ODST easily taking out a pack of grunts and a couple brutes threw me into a fit of nerd rage and I'm still pretty upset about it. As we all know, Spartans are not simply tough humans with cool armor. They possess Significantly (with a Capital S) enhanced levels of speed, reflexes, intelligence, strength, you name it. That's the reason the Chief can take on all the enemy packs by himself and that's why those enemies appear to move at a speed that we can handle in-game. Yet now we have a stinking ODST who feels to the gamer no different than the Chief except that he now has a *better* pistol. Give me a break. Ridiculous. The enemies should be all over the screen, completely overwhelming the player, forcing him to play differently than the Chief. Looks like a fun game and I'll certainly buy and enjoy it, but the Halo universe is now irrevocably damaged to me and it probably will never be the same from here on out. Once an illusion has been smashed, it's hard to build back up.
