In Response To: Re: Has anyone read Greg Bear? (AladelAngel) : He wrote a Star Wars novel called Rogue Planet years ago that I didn't really : enjoy. I haven't read any of his other stuff though. More to the Halo-related point, though, he's also written an award-winning novel (expanding upon an award-winning short story that gave me nightmares for days afterward) about a civilisation that arises inside a biochemist's body (cultivated from his own white blood cells) and then becomes contagious... Blood Music. Very Flood-like, no? Also, though I haven't read it, he wrote a novel including aliens called Cords that weren't intelligent on their own but who could combine into highly-intelligent Braids... very, very reminiscent of the Hunters in Halo. There's a ton more of his, much of it very good. -- Steve's thinking of dusting off some of his library to give 'em a re-read.
