Right, that's the thing: Master Chief IS in contact with the UNSC in Uprising, so why would Hood be surprised to see the Chief in the H2 cinematic if it takes place after the Uprising events? There seems to be no clear answer... unless we just don't count Uprising as canon. I believe Mr. Staten said the games should always be looked at as the top tier of canon-ness.
