Sentencing from Halo 3 murder trial
Posted By: RotaJota <jtburges@gmail.com>Date: 1/15/09 10:13 a.m.

This is about the boy who shot his parents when they didn't buy him Halo 3.

OP: http://halo.bungie.org/news.html?item=24731>

I personally find these kinds of things are a bit morbid and overly publicized, but unfortunately they are a part of the current political landscape.

Anyway, the results of said trial are in. The boy was found guilty, and the judge's full remarks contain some pretty hefty insights into the relationship between video games and drug addiction.

I think the judge is pretty accurate in saying that the boy was quite delusional, and I don't believe he is laying the cause of these delusions squarely on Halo. Rather, I think he is acknowledging that a deluded mindset combined with a violent game caused some unhealthy reflexes in the boy's mind. All in all it's an incredibly tragic incident, and hopefully there is something positive that can be learned from the situation.
