In Response To: Re: Halo - a look back over seven years (Taco Power) : Halo: CE was the first computer game I ever owned. It came free with my : christmas xbox whatever year it was released now. I had never heard of it : and was a bit put out because the only games i was aware of for the xbox : was picmin and splinter cell, and as far as i was aware the only selling : point for splinter cell was the lock picking. Splinter Cell turned out to : be not so bad actually but i was blown away by Halo. The story line was so : involving i taught myself to use the internet so i could find out more : about it which introduced me to the HBO and Bungie community and although : im mostly a lurker i still check both websites and forums daily years and : years on. When i was at university Halo turned out to be a life saver : giving me and my housemates an alternative universe to play in when this : one got a bit too serious or stressful and in the university town of : Bangor, Wales where there often not a lot to do Halo lead to many : entertaining LAN fests, the creation of the Official Beerlo Association : and Clan AB. Now that university is finshed Halo over XBL is keeping me : and my friends from uni in contact and im getting back in contact with : people i havnt spoken to from before universty. I'm one of Taco Powers old housemates, and we are now in Clan AB together. Like him Halo CE was the first game I ever had. No other game has dragged me in like this one, and I 'm not bothered at all with other different games. I'm not sure that Halo at university was all that much of a good thing, but it was certainly a FUN thing. We started off with Halo 2 and we played endless four player split screen. We were all Halo fans pre-university, so we all saved up and brought a 360 at the start of our third year, and queued up at midnight in Bangor to buy Halo 3. Our friends did the same and we played endless eight player system link. I think that most of the great lasting friendships I made at university were down to Halo, along with music and sport.
