Its sad how much Halo has affected my life. | |

In Response To: Halo - a look back over seven years (Louis Wu) I look back and see that some major events in my life are either directly or indirectly related to Halo. We chose the gamecube over the xbox at first but after a couple years my brother's friend had a LAN Party, and I was invited (Halo was played of course). Me and my brother knew we had to get the game. We bought our friends xbox (along with some other games, halo included). After a couple years of LANs and Co-op with my brother I eventually get to 8th grade and Halo 2 is released. My dad took my brother, a group of friends and I out at 12 to get the game, we stay up past four on a school night working through the campaign. Come Christmas, my brother and I join Xbox Live. Next year in 9th grade we actually make some new friends with people who we play with online. One of these friends was a senior and female, and although we weren't really serious (I took her out for pizza once) she became my first girlfriend. I was one of three 9th graders to go to prom that year (they have sort of an age limit) and the Xboxes went with us and we had a small LAN at the place where the After Prom was held. At the end of the year she had to go to college so we broke up, and I was left fragging on my own. Most of the friends I have actually come from Halo. I started playing with one kid, which led me into a friend circle. The guy I first knew actually had a aunt in our grade (his dad had a sister 22 years younger) and through him (through Halo) we started dating. Although I had a girlfriend before this was more of a relationship. Senior year comes around and Halo 3 comes out, some of my friends get Xbox Live and everything is awesome. I started college this year and don't get to play as much as I want to, but I still get on at Friday nights and meet up with my friends who live on campus, or I don't get to see because of time constraints. Unfortunately after three years my girlfriend broke up with me, so Halo didn't provide any great romance story but when I look back I can positively say that my life wouldn't have been the same. Halo has provided many LANs and new friends and even though I have my complaints about the gameplay, they made a solid game that touched many people. Thank you Bungie.
