In Response To: Halo - a look back over seven years (Louis Wu) : http://halo.bungie.org/news.html?item=24503 : Give us what you got!
//// First time I heard of Halo CE was in late 2003, I was in my fifth grade, and all of the guys were talking about this game called Halo, they would mention multiplayer alot, campaign alot and especially the flood level, but their vague descriptions did no justice to the game. The first time I played the game was when I noticed in a PC User magazine they had the Halo PC Trial version on the CD. I immeadiately installed it and begun to play (Except with no volume :P I thought the game had swearing and didn't want my parents to hear). So I played Silent Cartographer, which was alot of fun, up till the point you go up into the middle of the island through that gap with trees and rocks surrounding it, I never found that gap :( So I stopped playing Halo, I deffinetly couldn't afford the console or the proper game. But then at Christmas I noticed on my Cousins computer he had Halo PC, I started playing it, this time for the beginning, my brother came over to watch, he had actually played the game before in early 2003 but never really got hooked. Then my cousin offered to burn us a copy, I was delighted as my Dad had his laptop with him, so I installed it, and then me and my brother took it in turns to finish Halo PC, we both loved it. When we returned to our house after Christmas we immeadiately wanted an Xbox, (its become a habit now) when I really badly want or need something, somehow, somehow money always comes, I thank god for this. (One time I really wanted something (Can't remember what though :P) I needed 50 dollars, then this aunt, or some distant old family relative sent me and my brother 50 dollars each, as apparently she was extremely grateful for the Christmas cards we sent her (I thought, who is this woman, and what Christmas cards, but was still grateful)). So we got a Xbox and Halo, then my dad watched us play, and he liked the look, so he bought himself a controller and we all begun to play Halo MP quite often (Hang Em High was our favorite). //// That's how I first played Halo, and now for how it effected my life. The first fan Halo thing I started doing was Art, I loved the characters from Halo and began to start sketching them. Then Halo 2 came out, really enjoyed that game, had some fun LAN parties with friends from school. But for all of 2005 I was sort of dead to any new Halo information. Halfway through 2006 I decided to search if there was any news on a Halo 3, and to my shock there was a trailer, I gobbled up the trailer, and wanted more, then I started finding forums on the internet. Now I've been a member of quite a few forums and have met alot of people. I've also started pursuing a career in art thanks to Halo, and also Halo got me into 3D animation, writing, Machinima, game creating and lots more. Thanks to Bungie, HBO, and the Halo community, it really is the greatest community of all time.
