In Response To: Halo - a look back over seven years (Louis Wu) : http://halo.bungie.org/news.html?item=24503 : Give us what you got! I was somewhat big into video games by the time I was 14... I played all the main systems, Nintendo, SNES, N64, PS2, and eventually Xbox, but I'll never forget the day I got both my Xbox and Halo: Combat Evolved. I was 13 going on 14 I believe, and it was June 30th... Xbox had been out for sometime, along with Halo. Which at this time, I had no clue what the hell Halo was... I'd been gifted a couple of presents, except one... My oldest brother, came into my house on this day with his girlfriend, and a black gardbage bag. He tells me, "Hey buddy, here are just some hand-me-down clothes and stuff I thought you'd like!" And to me, I'm going "WOW! Big brother colthing! WICKED! I CAN BE EPIC COOL JUST LIKE HIM!!!!!111" He hands me the black garbage bag, and I lifted it up... It didn't feel quite like clothes, and when I unwrapped the garbage bag, there stood an actual Xbox box. "Oh we just threw all the stuff in there nice and neat..." By this time I'm crapping my pants while at the same time calling bullshit on his part. I quickly rip it all open and find the holy grail of consoles inside. I was so excited! Then he hands me this game, entitled "Halo..." With some green cliche looking man on the front. "Wow, space man..." I wasn't too excited about the game itself, unlike the actual console. I at first, actually refused the gift, because it was the kindest, and most expensive gift anyone had ever given me.. After trying three times to deny it, he told me to shut the hell up and just play the damn thing. And so I did... And the last seven years of gaming, are soley thanks to Bungie Studios. I still remember the opening cutscene like it was yesterday, and killing my first batch of grunts while playing in my bedroom... I couldn't get off the damn thing, I was hooked for months. I'd rent or try to buy a new game, play it for a few hours, toss it away and continue playing Halo, and no thats not me exaggerating, or joking. Thats the Tru7h. To this day, the only game I find that has replay value, is "Halo". I compare every game to this game, and I will now probably be a gamer for the rest of my life, dedicated to Bungie made games, because they just seem to feed me the type of game that I love to imerese and indulge myself in. So Happy Birthday Halo 1!
