Re: Regarding the fate of MC

: I was one of the many people who contemplated the ending and translating what
: we saw into "Chief is alive"

: Now, I'm not so sure.

: My only evidence is Cortana. She knows she has a limited lifespan yet still
: acts as if there is a future... it's only her somber mood that gives away
: that this might be the actual end.

: MC is dead... MC is not dead... maybe it's both. Master Chief, the character,
: will always be alive with the fans and will surely be awakened when we
: need him. The story of MC and his adventures (him literally) are dead.

: If you had a friend that was passing away, would you say "Well, I guess
: I'll never see you again" or something more soothing and comforting?
: That is the position Cortana and the Chief are in. They both know what is
: happening; they both are sadly gone from their universe and subsequently
: ours.

While I do agree with most of what you said (quite eloquently actually ;-), The one thing that puts the odd twist into the whole idea was the Legendary ending. For example, if the "Easy-Heroic" ending was simply the memorial service on Earth, and the Legendary ending was the Cortana/Chief "Wake me..." moment, then I would say without a question that it was giving players who had finished the game on Legendary the opportunity to see MC's last moments as a sort of gift. But the fact that the purposely gave us that final ominous nugget to try and wrap our heads around give me the idea that Chief has perhaps one more story; or at least a proper epilogue... I just want to know...
