In Response To: Re: Additional Sightings... (Hawaiian Pig) : That's a responsibility I think the original poster of a thread should take : up. : Kinda-a-little-tiny-bit-sorta annoying when someone posts a one liner about
How about, instead of complaining, we talk about the cutscene, which is the purpose of this thread after all. I, personally, thought it was really well done. The wreckage above Harvest, slowly giving way to the devasted planet glowing red. It gave me chills. The animation was excellently well done and very smooth, and the CGI graphics are awesome. The downside is that the Elites look... "villianized". Their eyes are beadier and yellow, their lips have more pronounced and varied fangs, and their hunch is very pronounced. I don't like how they're voices are done: too rough and, like I said before, villanized. I prefered the deep, smooth barotones in Halo 2 and Halo 3. It helped steer them away from the "Evil alien invaders who only want to destroy all human life" archetype, making them feel more realistic and believable. I don't know... It just feels like Ensemble trampled all over that precedent set by Bungie. Well, maybe there was a nasty Sangheili flu going around at the time? Do Elites get scholiosis? Hmm, thoughts to ponder on, methinks... Don't get me wrong. I loved the cinematic, and it definately holds tidbits and hints concerning the story that I'm too clumsy to catch. I did notice the fact that the apparant Sangheili leader is an Arbiter. Since Arbiters are only sent on suicide missions, usually very important ones at that, it suggests that whatever they're doing on Harvest is dangerous and important. The reference to a "relic" and the "infection" is interesting as well. The relic part is obvious, but the infection could be intepreted multiple ways. Is it a reference to the Flood (a.k.a. "The Parasite" in Sangeheili slang), to the humans, or something else we don't know about yet? ~I~
