Why must Church be the Alpha?

If Tex and Sarge may be AIs then why can't one of them be the Alpha?

And what is Church?

Apha's confusion? his exasperation? Or just the stringy bit that's left over when the juicy bits are gone?

Would Church want Epsilon's bad memories back? Could he cope?

What was Church doing on Sidewinder? (Tex was his GF and she beat that guy to death with his own skull.)

It was said that command experimented by giving people 2 AIs. Does that explain why Tex had a female AI and Omega? Or was Tex always an empty shell with only 2 AIs in it?

Tex may be the Alpha's combat skills but she's also female. What's that all about? Was she really Alpha's feminine side? Why should an AI have gender?

What is Tex's greek letter? Did that AI just think it was Allison?
